EUROPOSTCODE BY OPENFREIGHTMAP

About EuroPostcode

EuroPostcode is a free European postcode directory and interactive map built for fast geographic reference. It helps transport planners, freight forwarders and other users understand postcode prefixes, compare areas and share a map result without creating an account.

What the service covers

The directory contains 2,018 broad postcode prefix zones across 39 European countries and territories. Country pages list the available zones and reference localities, while the map can search broader prefixes, complete postcodes, cities and addresses. The same map technology also powers the logistics-focused OpenFreightMap service.

Data sources and methodology

Postcode reference locations are primarily derived from GeoNames postcode data. Country boundaries use Natural Earth, and the basemap uses OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles data from OpenStreetMap contributors. German two-digit postcode boundary references are used where available. Source acknowledgements remain visible on the map.

Broad zone centres are calculated from available postcode-locality records. A reference centre is useful for orientation, but it is not an official postal-service boundary and should not be treated as a delivery point.

Accuracy and limitations

European countries use different postcode formats and postal datasets change over time. Some postcode records may be missing, approximate or associated with a nearby locality. Non-geographic postcodes, post-office boxes and organisation-specific codes may not appear. Always confirm the full delivery address with the sender or recipient before pricing, routing or dispatching a vehicle.

Corrections and contact

If a postcode, locality or map result appears incorrect, email info@openfreightmap.com with the country, complete postcode, expected locality and a reliable supporting source. Specific reports are easier to investigate than general map comments.

Independent service

EuroPostcode is an independent reference tool. It is not affiliated with a national postal operator, and its zones are not a substitute for official postal information, professional route planning or legal transport guidance.
